I. Legitimate Fee Models of GUOZUN CATHAY ASSOCIATES Croatia Office

In strict observance of EU legal service standards and local Croatian professional norms, and tailored to the cross-border service scenarios of Chinese-funded enterprises, five standardised compliant fee models have been established with full transparency and traceability throughout the engagement:

Applicable to basic legal services with standardised procedures and quantifiable workload. The total service fee is specified upon signing of the engagement letter, covering matters such as commercial entity registration, basic compliance filing, and standard legal document processing.

B. Hourly Rate Model

Applicable to major cross-border projects, complex dispute cases and customised compliance consultancy. Fees are charged based on the effective working hours of the lawyers, with detailed monthly time sheets provided for verification and traceability.

D. Contingency Fee Model

Permitted under the professional practice regulations for Croatian lawyers, this model applies to debt collection, commercial recovery and tort dispute cases. Fees are determined based on the outcome of the concluded case, with the charging ratio not exceeding 30% of the actual recovered amount.

E. Annual Retainer Model for Corporate Legal Counsel

Fees for highly specialised fields such as EU regulation, cross-border M&A and energy finance are higher than those for basic civil and commercial legal services.

Fees are dynamically adjusted for major litigation and arbitration cases, difficult cross-border implementation matters and special regulatory response tasks.

D. Urgency of Service

Urgent commencement of work and case handling on holidays shall be subject to urgent service surcharges in strict accordance with the standards.

E. Cooperation and Procurement Model

Compared with single-service procurement, packaged annual legal counsel cooperation reduces overall costs by 15%–25%.

F. Service Team Configuration

Fees are adjusted accordingly for cases handled by joint teams of multiple experts, with headquarters cross-border coordination and dedicated bilingual team services.

G. Case Performance Risk

The charging ratio for contingency fee services is directly linked to case difficulty and service cycle.
